Note: From 1916 through 1923, John D. Rockefeller Jr. also became an advocate for improving relations between employers and employees in industry. He gave speeches, authored articles, served as a public delegate to the 1919 White House Conference on Industrial Relations, and published an edited volume of his writings on the topic. He also interceded in labor problems at several large firms in which his family held investments, underwrote the creation of a nonprofit consulting firm, and funded industrial relations programs at Princeton, Wharton and Harvard.
